Perlman describes all of the major networking algorithms and protocols in use today in intrenetworking and concise terms, while exploring the engineering trade-offs that the different approaches represent.

However, it is still on the INE recommended reading list so I believe this is why the book continuously is sold but I think its fair to say the book has some excellent foundational knowledge for those who need it and for the rest of us, its kind of a distraction.
